BECTU have an enormous range of discount options, from supermarkets to holidays. We’ve done some back-of-beermat maths and figure as a single person you can easily save £450 each year – with new/returning members’ fees at £120 that means you really will be better off. Membership after the first year is typically 1% of your associated income, but this is capped at £400 per year, so there are still savings to be made. If you’re feeding a family those supermarket savings can rack up very nicely.

4% off at Tesco and M&S – if you spend £500 a month that can mean a saving of £20. 3% off at Sainsbury’s and Morrison’s, 2.5% off at
Waitrose.
Coffee:
7% off at Costa Coffee and Nero, 6% off at Starbucks
Dining:
9% off at Zizzi, 8% off at Pizza Hut, 7% off at Pizza Express & All Bar One, 4% off from Just Eat, 2.5% off from Uber Eats – this discount
also applies to your taxi fares

7% off at River Island, 6% off at Arcadia group (including Topshop/Man, Miss Selfridges, Burton, Dorothy Perkins), 6% off at Primark, 5% off at ASOS, 4.5% off at GAP, Superdry and Sports Direct, 3% off at Nike
Home products and DIY:
6% off at Halfords, 5% off at Wilko, 4.5% off at Curry’s and PC World, 3% off at Argos, B&Q and Wickes, 2.5% off at John Lewis
Fitness:
Discounts of 5-10% at over 3000 major gyms (participants include Virgin Active, Pure Gym, Bannatynes and many more)
Entertainment:
8% off National Book tokens (which covers WH Smith, Foyles, Waterstones, Blackwell and most other chain and independent book shops), 4% off XBOX live, 2% off Google Play Store
Travel:
10% off Hotels.com, 3% off TUI.

Using the leverage of 40,000 members, BECTU negotiate with energy providers to ensure the cheapest home electricity and gas bills for our members, the newest rates will be announced in November (last year 10% of members saved £450 a year or more).
